Having a much needed quality time with God today, and chatting through some of my issues with him.
I have been wrestling as you may well know if you've been reading my blog with what is happening, why things we are working on just seem to be taking so long to get going. Yes, we do have the peace that what we are doing is right, we have asked that question a number of times on this journey.
It's hard to tell during this kind of season if it's your stuff, or simply the situation that calls for extra grace. The other thing though is just because things take time to happen, that does not mean that God is not in it. Joseph and David are just two examples that spring to mind. They both had a lot of waiting to do, and at least I am not in prision working this out!
The core issue has been trust. Do I know I am a son, and do I know that my heavenly father will take care of his son? I think I do know in my heart that the answer is yes to both of those quesions.
But then a thought popped into my head (maybe the Lord??!!!) that he knows what he is doing! By that I mean he's ok with things going slowly, that he has a bigger picture, he sees it all, and he knows what he is doing. He is more than able to meet our needs according to his riches.
And his primary purpose for us is to love him and trust him, and to bring us to a place where we can rest in that love and trust, regardless of what is going on.
Maybe this is a glipmse of what Paul was refering to when he wrote this ('cos thankfully I am not literally getting persecuted and struck down like he was!):
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body.
2 Corinthians 4:7-11
So keep pressing in, pressing on, loving him, letting him love you, and trusting him. He's worth it!
(oh I am writing this on a text editor as the site is down... in fact all the sites we own are down, including those for clients which are not working... grrrr. So sorry to those that tried to get on today but couldnt.)
