Is junctionj an internet cell group or an online church?
It's actually both.
How does junctionj work?
There are two main functions and actions involved with junctionj.
1. Your cell group; meeting at a specific time each week, online through skype. Here you are part of your own small group of people who are passionate about similar things as you and will encourage you and challenge you to grow.
2. Online community activity. Here you can interact with others in the church, you can blog, you can send prayer requests and pray. You can join a social group to connect with others that have a common interest. We are working on four rooms online. Worship, Soaking, Intersession and Prophetic. So you will be able log into any room and connect online.
How do the cells work?
We meet each week for an hour or so using Skype. Skype is a free application that allows you to talk to people for free over the internet. It will also let you video conference with one other person if you both have a web camera, or audio conference to numerous people simultaneously. When your request to join a cell has been approved by the leader of that cell, they will email you requesting your Skype name, which they will add to their Skype contacts. The request will then come to your Skype account to let them see when you are on-line. Then, when it's time for cell, the cell leader will bring everyone available that's part of the cell into the meeting. If you want to check it out, you can always request to join a cell and 'pop in' for a session or two to see if it suits. Visit http://community.junctionj.com/og/all to see the cells available. Download Skype at www.skype.com.
Can I be in more than one cell?
You can be in as many cells as you have time for.
How I decide which cell to join?
The simple answer is pray about it! But basically, whichever part of the church resonates with you that most, that's mostly likely to be where you will enjoy cell the most. The cell structure is not so rigid that you will be only focusing on that one aspect of church. The cell structure is there for you to have an outlet of who you are and express yourself in the way that you feel called to do so, along with others who are passionate in the same area.
There is freedom for you to interact with the other cells online, in fact, that is exactly what we want to happen!
What is Partners in Harvest?
Partners in Harvest is an international network of churches who all share the core values of the Father's love. You can read more about them at their website.
How do I request people to be my friend?
If you want to add friends, click on their name (for instance under 'author' in the 'what's new' list), which will take you to their profile page. Then click 'add to my friend list' under the 'friend actions' area under the 'friends' section. If you want to see the full list of users on junctionj, visit http://community.junctionj.com/site_user_list.
How do I cancel my account? It's not possible to cancel your account yourself right now. Please email info@junctionj.com asking us to cancel your account and we'll do it for you. If you could tell us why you are canceling, that would be helpful.
How do I add an image to my blog?
When posting a blog entry, below the 'Title' and 'Body' text boxes you will see the section "Add an image to my post'. Click the button 'choose file'. Then using the browser window choose an image file off your hard-drive. Click 'ok'. Then in the next field down labeled 'Image title', type in what you want the image's title to be. Thats it! Then hit submit at the bottom of the page to add the entire blog entry. If you have a picture from a 3rd party website like Flikr, in the next field down labeled 'Add an image link' just paste in the link to the photo provided by that website and it will appear in your blog.
How do I add a video from a third-party site (Youtube etc..) to my blog?
In the 'Add a video link!' field, paste in the URL link to the video that was provided from Youtube, Google or other video sites. Read the Youtube tutorial here for info on where to get a Youtube video URL link from (hint: beside each video to the right).
Do you need Skype to join junctionj?
Not initially. You are welcome to join the site and participate on the activities that go on in and around junctionj. However, in order to join and be part of a cell, (which we highly recommend 'cos we just loves cell groups!) you will need to download Skype at www.skype.com so that you can meet with your cell group online.
Is there a church service?
No, not in the way that we are used to. At junctionj we have been looking at the structure of 'church' and want to create a church that is community and lifestyle based. We want there to be space for you to be you. You are encouraged to join a cell which would naturally meet at a particular day in the week, but all other 'church activity' is manifested in day-to-day life as you choose to interact with the community. There will be space for you to connect through prayer, soaking, worship and prophetic; pouring out and receiving. Church is to be part of our lifestyle, our everyday life, not just the Sunday meeting or weekly cell group. People are being connected all over the world with deep relationships and here is the place where you can continue to deepen those relationships and grow together (apart).
